Improving Customer Service in the Public Sector
If you are an organisation involved in providing customer service in the public sector, then you will want to consider implementing the Chartermark (Soon to be the CSE) within your organisation's framework. The Charter Mark is a tool that is recognised throughout every aspect of the customer service sector as a symbol that proves an organisation is consistently focused on improvement and excellence in customer service. When you achieve the high standards of the Chartermark, your organisation will be able to display the Charter Mark Logo in is promotional literature.
The Chartermark logo is a symbol of an award that your organisation has won demonstrating the achievement of attaining excellence in customer service according to national standards in the UK. This award is the result of an initiative that was developed in 1991 in an effort to improve the face of the public sector in government work.
When you apply for this award, you will be assessed by four certification bodies on your organisation's achievement and goals incorporating a wide range of criteria. The certification bodies that will assess your organisation are the Centre for Assessment, the Charter Mark Assessment Services, EMQC Ltd, and SGS United Kingdom Ltd.
These certification bodies will assess your organisation on its abilities to set coherent standards and performing them with excellence:
- actively engaging staff, partners, and customers
- provision of fairness and accessibility to everyone
- continuous development and improvement of all standards
- effective and imaginative utilization of resources
- and in the contributions towards improving the quality of life and opportunities in the communities where your organization serves
Your Chartermark Logo will be held for a period of three years, after which point your organisation may reapply for this prestigious symbol.
It doesn't matter what industry your organisation functions in. If you're a government body, health care facility, policing body, educational facility, or even an arts and cultural facility, your organisation may be eligible for the prestigious award. If you think that the work that you are performing in your community within your public service organisation is meeting and achieving the standards of excellence that have been set at the national level, then your organisation deserves to be recognised for that.
The logo in itself sets standards that other organisations strive for. It offers choice to today's consumer and recognises organisations efforts for continuous and consistent improvement in services. It will not only benefit your business, but the people that you serve in your community and there is no greater reward than knowing you are serving the people in your community with excellence.
