Creating customer service job ads for the web is a different discipline than writing for local press or the Sunday papers. As discussed in our previous article "customer service jobs – planning the perfect job advertisement," you can improve visibility by using keywords. Presenting with Panache

You are not alone if the thought of giving presentations scares you. Giving a presentation is worrying for many people. Presenting or public speaking regularly tops the list in surveys of people's top fears - more than flying.

'Most people would prefer to be lying in the casket rather than giving the eulogy' anon

Even experienced speakers feel their heart thumping - some of the great actors and entertainers suffer from physical sickness before taking the stage.

So do not get rid of the butterflies you are feeling - just get them flying in formation - here are some tips to help you when presenting:

  • Good preparation is the key to confidence which is the key to you being relaxed and this settles the butterflies. Prepare means plan it and practise it
  • When creating your presentation think about your audience, your aims and their expectations - are you informing them, inspiring them, demonstrating or maybe persuading them? Ensure it is well structured with a clear beginning, middle and strong close
  • Slides are meant to be visual aids. They should be used because they help to illustrate or explain something better than just words. They are there to help the audience
  • Build up your credibility in a strong introduction - introduce yourself, what you are going to tell them, why you are telling them, why it is important and why it is you that is telling them
  • The average attention span of the average listener is 5-10 minutes for any single unbroken subject so break up the content to keep people attentive

And above all, do not worry - your audience wants you to succeed - they are on your side!
