Attracting the best customer service job seekers
Posted Mar 4 by Paul Jordan at 9:25 AM Post a comment »As the economy recovers, the competition for talent in the customer service sector is hotting up. How can you get better candidates to apply for your customer service job vacancies?
Most of your potential candidates these days will be using the Web as a key part of their search for new jobs. It stands to reason, therefore, that if you can increase the online visibility of your customer service job vacancies, you have a better chance of pulling in more candidates. Get the visibility in the right places, with the right content, and crucially you’ll get a better quality of candidate too.
5 steps to better visibility for your customer service jobs
1. Make sure your customer service job postings are all over the Internet. That means using job boards like this one, Jobsincustomerservice, using your own website and using social networking tools like Twitter or Linkedin to get your vacancy seen by as many relevant people as possible.
2. Know what key terms potential candidates are searching on. Do they search for customer service jobs in London, or customer service manager jobs for example, or are they more sector driven – customer service jobs in retail for example. Find out using the Google keywords tool. It only takes a few minutes to try different variations.
3. Include key terms in your advertisement headline and in the body copy. This may mean that Google picks up your job ad and displays it on the first page.
4. Target your advertisement to online users. Short, sharp, to the point. It’s not a leisurely read of the Sunday Times. You have maybe two seconds at most to grab attention. The more relevant the copy, the better quality of candidate applications you can expect.
5. Make it easy to apply online, but use filters too. You want the best candidates to be able to apply with a couple of clicks, but you may also want to identify the better candidates from the rest with a few pre-qualification questions.
If that’s a bit too brief for you, don’t worry. We’re going to expand on all these points over the next few weeks at Jobsincustomerservice.co.uk as part of our mission to help employers and recruiters like you fill your vacancies and help you to attract better customer service candidates, faster, and more cost-effectively.
