Posting customer service jobs – using all the benefits of online ads
Posted Jul 16 by Paul Jordan at 12:09 PM Post a comment »Creating customer service job ads for the web is a different discipline than writing for local press or the Sunday papers. As discussed in our previous article "customer service jobs – planning the perfect job advertisement," you can improve visibility by using keywords. Another dimension to consider is that instead of a passive ad, the web offers an interactive environment, and there are all sorts of ways you can use that to get ahead of the pack.
Here are 5 steps to help you create clever, interactive, online job advertisements for customer service job boards:
1. Think about your ideal applicant and format the advertisement carefully. Use the keywords you’ve identified, like ‘customer service jobs, telecoms, London’ for example, but also use compelling information that will appeal to decent candidates: Supportive team environment. Flexible hours. Award-winning training…
2. Include outbound links in your advertisement. Instead of ramming in all your company credentials into the advertisement, you can include simple links to your website, or better still to detailed pages about what it’s like to do a customer service job at your firm. This can keep the job ad uncluttered, while giving the candidate the best possible information.
3. Use a pre-application filter question. You can cut-down on the number of non-starter applications by asking a straightforward Yes/No question. For example: ‘Have you had experience of a customer service job before?’ If no, you can set-up an automated not suitable message and prevent a wasted application.
4. Make the ‘Apply Now’ button an automatic link to upload a CV and application form. Your customer service job board provider should be able to do this for you.
5. Set up an application filter with four or five killer questions that sort online applications. If applicants answer all five unsatisfactorily, that can trigger an automatic rejection. If they only answer half to your satisfaction, this can route to a ‘maybe’ file. All satisfactory answers route direct to your priority file for consideration.
Following these 5 steps, in conjunction with the search engine marketing recommendations in our previous article, will help you to make the most of the online media at your disposal.
We hope that you will at least try some of these steps on your next customer service job advertisement.
