Main responsibilities:
- As the Analyst Developer/DBA you will be directly responsible the bespoke/3rd party applications, supplier/customer electronic interfaces, and the continued availability of multiple server installations in the production environment.
- Maintaining and supporting the existing bespoke applications (typically developed in C# and VB6).
- Implementing version control and change management for all live application and data environments
- Maintaining job schedules, job tracking and escalations.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining complete documentation for the live production SQL server environment.
- Ensuring a tested backup and recovery process is in place for the production SQL Server environment.
- Working with 3rd parties to design and develop new solutions to meet new and existing business requirements.
Additional responsibilities:
- Creating, maintaining and monitoring SSIS data transfer packages and procedures for the data warehouse ETL processes.
- Creating, maintaining and monitoring the data synchronization packages and processes between the production database servers and the web database server.
- Maintaining, developing and enhancing the Business Objects XI platform including universe and report design.
- Maintaining and developing within the SQL Reporting Services environment.
- ERP application support.
- Developing and publishing service metrics covering performance, security and availability.
- Performing release and maintenance work out of hours. Ensuring the production SQL Server environment is appropriately patched for Windows and SQL vulnerabilities and enhancements. Completing and supporting incident and problem resolution, working with other team members.
- Performance tuning and capacity planning and monitoring on the production database servers.
Required Experience/Skills/Competencies
- SQL 2005 database design and administration.
- Development in C# and VB6 in a thick-client/web interface environment.
- Systems analysis experience and related business and technical documentation.
- Experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, tuning & troubleshooting.
- Ensure backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
- Self-starter with the ability work well individually.
- Close attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good team work.
- Excellent time management.
Desirable Skills/Knowledge/Accreditations:
- Microsoft certification - MCDBA or MCTS, MCITP.
- EDI- TRADACOMS, EDIFACT, cXML, XML.
- Experience of working for an IT sector company.
Tools & Equipment used:
Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Syntegra te, SQL Server Management Studio, Intranet, Internet, Microsoft Office, Visual Studio.
Liaises with:
- Entire IT function (IT and Ireland).
- All departments/management levels.
- 3rd party business suppliers and customer, and IT suppliers.
