Hospital summary
This is an acute district general hospital providing: Accident and Emergency, ITU, General Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Urology, Haematology, Rheumatology, Cardiology, Paediatrics etc.
A major Oncology Centre is partly housed on this site. The specialist centre provides cancer services for the whole of Kent and also Hastings and Rother. The hospital also has a £2m Emergency Care Centre, which was one of the first of its kind in the country to offer full A&E services, a GP out-of-hours service and a walk-in centre under one roof.
Over£100m has already been spent on improving services at this Hospital. The latest development there has seen the opening of a £3 million international training centre for laparoscopic surgeons. The centre will enhance the skills of their surgeons and other surgeons worldwide, enhancing patient care on a truly international scale.
Location
The hospital is located in rural Kent, with easy access to the M25, M20 and Kent coast. Central London rail stations are less than an hour from Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone stations. Maidstone is just 30 miles drive from the City of London and also just 30 miles from the English Channel and the Channel Tunnel.
The towns of Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells each offer lively and sophisticated town centres, with excellent facilities, as well as outstanding state and private schools locally. Yet both are set in the heart of beautiful Kent countryside, with delightful surrounding villages, and offer a superb range of outdoor activities, and easy access to London and the South Coast.
